THE Chevrons crushed Kenya by nine wickets on a day of a flurry of warm-up matches in Harare yesterday ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifiers.
The tournament will be held in Harare from Friday to October 4.
Kenya, who once qualified for the ICC Cricket World Cup semi-finals before fading from the big stage, were restricted to 96/8 in their 20 overs.
Bradley Evans took three wickets, at a cost of 26 runs, Richard Ngarava took 2-19 and Blessing Muzarabani was impressive, taking 1-6 in four overs.
The Chevrons powered to 100/1 in 12,2 overs.
Brian Bennett scored 33 runs, Sean Williams added 21 from 13 balls and Brendan Taylor added 20 runs.
Botswana beat Malawi by 55 runs.
Botswana posted 150/4 in their 20 overs while Malawi could only manage 95 all out in response.
Namibia, who has been in Zimbabwe for some time now, piled more than 200 for the second match in a row.
JJ Smith impressed with a half century while Malan Kruger (36) and Nicol Loftieeaton (36) helped power their country to 205/6.
Uganda were always against it in their response and were restricted to 112/8.
Tanzania and Nigeria battled in a thriller.
The Nigerians were dismissed for 83 and, in reply, Tanzania just crossed the line, overhauling their target with just one wicket in hand with four balls to spare.
The tournament starts on Friday at Harare Sports Club and Takashinga.
Namibia will take on Kenya and Zimbabwe will battle Uganda at Harare Sports Club while Nigeria will take on Malawi and Tanzania clash against Botswana at Takashinga Sports Club.
