PREMIER Soccer League giants, Highlanders, have joined the rest of the country in mourning popular entertainment personality and Star FM presenter, Babongile Sikhonjwa.
Affectionately called ‘The Ndebele Rock Star’, Sikhonjwa died suddenly at United Bulawayo Hospitals on Sunday after complaining of breathing complications.
He was aged 49 and is survived by two children.
In a statement yesterday, Highlanders said they were mourning the passing of a cherished life member.
“It is with profound sorrow that Highlanders FC mourns the passing of Babongile Sikhonjwa, a cherished Highlanders FC life member and a beloved figure in Zimbabwe’s entertainment industry.
“In addition to his passion for football, Babongile was a vibrant force in the entertainment world. His charisma, creativity, and passion lit up stages and screens across the country.
“As a media personality, performer, and cultural contributor, he brought joy to countless lives and helped shape Zimbabwe’s artistic landscape. His voice, humour, and energy made him a household name, and his legacy will continue to inspire future generations of entertainers.
“We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
“May you find comfort in the memories of his laughter, his loyalty, and his love for both sport and the arts,” read the statement.
