CHICKEN Inn head coach Joey Antipas has revealed that they are set to welcome back three to four players in the second-half of the season who have regained their full fitness.

Midfielder Tafadzwa Kutinyu, Nelson Ketala, Vincent Moyo and Munashe Pini were not registered by Gamecocks for the first-half of the season as they were in the treatment room.

Central defender Mpumelelo Bhebhe, who was briefly out of the country, recently retraced his steps to Chicken Inn and he has been training with Antipas’ men.

“All I can say is that all our players who had been injured are back and that is Kutinyu, Ketala and Vincent. It’s good they have regained full fitness and Mpumelelo Bhebhe is back at the club and he has been training well. We will see how it goes but we will register almost three of them as we gear up for the second-half of season. This is the time we need to raise our game,” said Antipas.

Kutinyu suffered a broken nose while in April Ketala underwent successful surgery on his right knee.
Moyo had been in the treatment owing to a muscle spasm on his left foot.

A muscle spasm, is also known a charley horse, muscle cramp or twitch and is a sudden, involuntary movement in one or more muscles.

Ahead of the start of the 2024 season, the Gamecocks reunited with the duo of ex-captain Danny Phiri and creative midfielder Innocent Mucheneka.

They also hired pint-sized Elshaamar Farasi on a season’s loan deal from ex-Premier Soccer League side Bulawayo City, Brighton Makopa and Brendon Rendo, who were both previously with Hwange.

Ex-Caps United’s Joseph Thulani and youthful defender Brandon Mpofu, who was formerly with Dynamos, are also at the Gamecocks.

The Gamecocks managed to retain the services of goalkeepers Donovan Bernard and Pride Zendera, defenders Dominic Jaricha, Neilson Kerala, Dumoluhle Lunga, Vincent Moyo, Itai Mabunu, Arthur Chinda and skipper Xolani Ndlovu.

Other seasoned players who committed to the club are skilful George Majika, Malvin Hwata, Genius Mutungamiri, hard-running Brian Muza and last year’s Soccer Star of the Year finalist Michael Charamba.

Gamecocks are on position eight with 23 points after managing to post five wins, eight draws and four defeats.
In their next fixture, Joey Antipas’ men will welcome CAPS United at Luveve Stadium. Makepekepe are on number nine, one point behind Gamecocks. @FungaiMuderere.
