Players free to leave Arenel — Tawachera

ARENEL coach Farai Tawachera says they will not stand in the way of any player as several of their key players are being linked with moves to other clubs in the ongoing mid-season transfer window.

Impressive central defender Arthur Ndlovu, goalminder Aron Ngwenya, veterans Moses Jackson and Timothy January are some of the players likely to leave.  Ndlovu is reportedly being chased by Highlanders, Ngwenya has been linked with TelOne and Bikita Pirates while January might be headed to Hwange.

“Players are contracted to the club. Their movement, if it benefits the club is therefore welcome and we will not stand in their way. Players come and others leave and that is normal. As a coach I would love to build on what I have rather than start all over again but if it happens that we lose some players, life goes on. We will work with what we have. The club is bigger than individuals,” said Tawachera.

He says the team has been working to improve some grey areas during the break. “We didn’t break. We are working on areas we felt we are not doing good enough. We are in an elite Zimbabwe league and we definitely expect to see new faces in the second-half of the season. It’s  a lifetime opportunity to play Premier League football so as others are disembarking the bus, others jump into it,” said Tawachera.

At the halfway mark, Arenel are bottom of the 18 member league with 11 points. They have only won once, managed eight stalemates and posted eight defeats. Meanwhile, the PSL successfully held a two-day workshop with club administrators. The workshop covered essential topics like sports medicine, security, club licensing, match organisation and the laws of the game. — @innocentskizoe
