Chidzikwe sends Lock crashing out of Zim Open

defending champion Benjamin Lock in a tightly contested quarterfinal tie at Harare Sports Club yesterday.
Chidzikwe overpowered Lock 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (7) to progress to the semi-finals in a match that lasted for almost three hours as both players put up a good show.
However, experience counted as Chidzikwe went on to win the match that had to be decided by a tie break after three sets.
Chidzikwe attributed his success to experience and saluted Lock for giving him a good run for his money.
“I can say it was a tight match. I think he is a very good player but like I said yesterday, I was going to fight and, eventually, he cracked.
“At the beginning it was tough for me. In the second set I thought it was going to be bad day for me.
“He came back a little fresher and he was able to control the second set, seeing that he had won the set I just let him go but came back in the third set.
“I have played enough matches in my life to know that it’s not over until it’s over.”
