COMMUNITIES in Chimaniamni District have commended the outreach programmes being conducted by Government to promote education and stimulate enthusiasm among learners in the area.
The district’s Acting Schools Inspector Mr Michael Chanyawu said the programmes’ main aim is to mobilise educational material and ensure that pupils have adequate resources to make up for the learning time lost during the Covid-19 induced lockdown as schools were closed under measures aimed at containing the pandemic.
Mr Chanyawu said they partnered other Government departments and have already been to Nyanyadzi and Tonhorai clusters where they received positive response.
“We are very grateful for this great initiative by Government that enabled us to reach out to children of school-going age who were stranded at home for one reason or the other. These outreach programmes produced the desired outcome because they made an impact in the communities where they were carried out and will make a difference. It is important to keep children in school and such programmes help a lot in achieving that end; we will continue with them,” said Mr Chanyawu.
He added that the community care outreach programmes also helped them to identify physically challenged children who need assistance to enable them to stay in school and continue with their education.
