PLANS are on course to have Manicaland get more PCR equipment and rapid testing kits to provide the province with the necessary apparatus needed in scaling up the fight against the pandemic, the Ministry of Health and Child Care has said.

Speaking during the tour of Mt Melleray Mission Hospital in Nyanga District recently, Ministry of Health and Child Care Deputy Minister Dr John Mangwiro said the move is meant to ensure that healthcare facilities in rural communities are also fully equipped with the required tools in order to effectively carry out their duties with efficiency.

“As a country, we are moving with sustained efforts to combat Covid-19 and the Ministry will be increasing machines needed for the testing exercises so that we have effective mechanisms in place to aid our responses,” said Dr Mangwiro.

He reiterated Government’s commitment to fight and win the war against the pandemic as the Second Republic is prioritising the provision of quality healthcare under National Development Strategy 1.
