IT’S all systems go for the Manicaland Provincial Independence Celebrations pencilled for Nedziwa Business Centre in Chimanimani District today (Friday).
Permanent Secretary for Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Mr Abiot Maronge said preparations are complete, and they were expecting to host a delegation from Mozambique’s Manica Province, be led by their Secretary for the State.
Mr Maronge said they are also expecting thousands of people to throng the venue, listening to the Presidential speech that will be delivered by the Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Advocate Misheck Mugadza.
“Our preparations went on well, and our 45th provincial Independence Day commemorations will be held at Nedziwa Business Centre in Chimanimani. All the districts in the province will also host their own commemorations, with delegates gathering at district level to observe this very important day in the history of our country.
“Our committees, ranging from entertainment, refurbishment of infrastructure and catering services, have been on the ground, and work was done earnestly. We are looking forward to having a big crowd in Chimanimani as some representatives from the other districts will also be in attendance.
“Minister Mugadza will officiate, representing the President. We are also looking forward to hosting a delegation from Manica Province in Mozambique, led by their State Secretary. This is what we will also do in return when they have their own independence commemorations in June.
“I want to promise the people of Chimanimani and the province that it will be a big day. There will be lots of entertainment, with our security services performing drills and many other forms of entertainment coupled with a soccer match in the afternoon. Worth noting is the fact the people of Chimanimani will appreciate the vision of President Mnangagwa of leaving no people and no place behind in the national development,” he said.
Mr Maronge said proceedings will start at 9am.
