ZANU PF national secretary for finance as well acting political commissar, Cde Patrick Chinamasa, is recovering well following his involvement in an accident on the outskirts of Rusape last Saturday.

Speaking from his hospital bed at a private clinic in Harare, Cde Chimanasa said though he missed death by a whisker, he is in a stable condition and recovering well.

He said an X-ray done on him showed that he had not suffered any internal injuries, though he had some chest pains.

“It is true that I missed death by a whisker. I was saved by the airbags, otherwise we would have been talking of something else. I am way much better, and should be out in a day or two. As you know, air bags hit you on the chest, hence the chest pains. The doctors are monitoring my situation, and the X-ray has confirmed that I did not suffer any internal injuries,” he said.

Cde Chinamasa was involved in accident just after Rusape when he reportedly rammed into the back of a truck carrying scrap metal.

He was taken to Rusape Hospital and later transferred to a private hospital in Harare.

“It was at night, and I was travelling to Harare. There was a lorry that was carrying scrap metal, and it had no tail lights. It was covered by a tent, and the load slipped from the truck towards my vehicle and the rest is history. Anyway, I am okay, and happy to be alive. I missed death by a whisker,” said Cde Chimanasa.
