THE Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA) today installed a new transformer at Nyahukwe Clinic, which for the past five months had no access to power after its transformer was struck by lightning.
The new 50KvA transformer was donated by Zanu PF Makoni District Coordinating Committee (DCC) secretary for lands, Cde Shepard Nyika following a request by the ruling party structures in Ward 20.
The gesture by Cde Nyika has also come as a huge relief to schools, businesses and general consumers in the area.
“For the past five months, the clinic didn’t have access to electricity, leading to serious problems including the spoiling of medicines, inability to use essential medical and diagnostic devices, lack of basic lighting and even communication. It also limited working hours and inhibited the deployment of medical technology, especially during this time of Covid-19,” said Mr Nyika.
Cde Nyika also donated food hampers to 20 elderly people to cushion them against the effects of Covid-19.
