A 28-YEAR-OLD Chinese man allegedly fondled his workmate’s breasts after accusing her of taking a photograph of a new employment contract form that she had just signed using her cellphone. Bu Xiaojun, a Human Resources manager at Nelson Holdings Company in Gweru, appeared before magistrate Mildred Matuvi on Thursday facing allegations of indecently assaulting Patience Chamutsa, a furnace operator at the company.
Bu pleaded not guilty and was remanded out of custody to today for continuation of trial. State prosecutor, Tendayi Musakwa, told the court that on October 19 last year, Bu and Chamutsa were at their workplace.
Musakwa said all the workers were signing their new employment contracts with the company.
“The complainant entered Bu’s office for her turn to sign her contract and it was then that the accused person accused her of taking a photograph of her contract using her cell phone. The complainant denied taking any picture and it was then that an altercation ensued,” said Musakwa.
He said Bu demanded the complainant’s cell phone but she refused to hand it over.
Musakwa said the two started exchanging some harsh words and the complainant then asked to go to the toilet.
“The accused allegedly blocked her and started fondling her breasts and shoulders several times,” the court heard.
Musakwa said the complainant went and made a report to the police leading to Bu’s arrest.
