made such a huge impact in his first few games both at home and in the Champions League as Chinyama has done in the past two weeks?
These were the questions flying around at Rufaro after another starring role by Chinyama yesterday.
His first game for Dynamos in the Champions League brought a brace for the big striker.
His first game for DeMbare in the league yesterday brought a hat-trick.
Can it get any better than this?
Chinyama scored the club’s two goals when they bravely fought to a 2-2 Champions League first round, first leg draw against Liga Muculmana in Mozambique last weekend.
Yesterday he continued with his scoring form to take his tally to six goals in their last three competitive games. The former Hwange and Legia Warsaw striker also scored in the 2-1 win over Motor Action in the season-opening NetOne Charity Shield at the National Sports Stadium.
Although he was elated by his good run yesterday, Chinyama remained humble and said he has no ambitions for personal glory and attributed his goals to team work.
“I’ve got the match ball and am glad we won,” said the big forward.
“I think this is a good start to the Premiership season but we have to take each game as it comes. Today (yesterday) we played our normal game and as a striker it’s your duty to score. You have to get the goals but I am not a player who is targeting anything at the moment.
“I cannot talk about the Golden Boot because I am playing for the team. Individual awards may come at the end of the season but right now the focus is on the team achieving results.”
Chinyama opened his account against Hardbody with a powerful long range effort in the first half and completed his hat-trick with two more goals in the second period, including one from a free header off a Roderick Mutuma cross as Hardbody finished with 10 men following the expulsion of their chief striker Callisto Maheya.
But the Dynamos striker hailed Hardbody as a competitive side.
“This is a team coming from Division One and the first game of the season is always difficult for any team,” said Chinyama.
“We cannot judge them by this one game but I think they did well under the circumstances.”
Chinyama was brought in as a direct replacement for Malajila and after just three games, he has endeared himself with the Dynamos fans as his goals have given the Harare giants just the kind of start that coach Callisto Pasuwa had been hoping for.
