THE long arm of the law finally caught up with a 23-year-old Chipinge man who allegedly raped two juveniles on separate occasion.
The accused, Isaah Mabhande of Chikwari Village under Chief Musikavanhu in Chipinge was not asked to plead when he appeared before Chipinge magistrate, Mr Noah Gwatidzo charged with rape as defined in Section 65(1) (a) (b) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act, Chapter 9:23.
He was advised to apply for bail at the High Court since he was facing a third schedule offence.
It was State’s case led by Mr Vincent Chiswe that on September 19 in Chikwari Village, Mabhande arrived at the first complainant aged 12’s homestead at around 2am and found her fast asleep with her young sister aged nine.
He allegedly entered the room through an unlocked door and raped her. While he was in the process of raping her, the complainant woke up and managed to identify Mabhande.
She screamed for help and Mabhande fled from the scene.
The court also heard that on November 3 also in the same village, Mabhande met the second complainant aged 13 who was on her way to Rimai Primary School alone.
He grabbed the complainant by her chest and dragged her to a secluded place where he raped her once. The complainant screamed for help, but Mabhande threatened to kill her if she continued screaming.
He fled from the scene after raping her.
Both complainants were medically examined and penetration was confirmed.
Mr Gwatidzo remanded Mabhande in custody to November 20.
