A RUSAPE teacher who was arrested on five counts of aggravated indecent assault and another five of indecent assault was last week remanded in custody when he appeared before Rusape magistrate.
Revai Kaswa, of Nechironga Primary School, was not asked to plead when he appeared before Mr Shingi Mutiro on initial remand, last week.
Kaswa was remanded in custody to November 18.
Mr Mutiro also ordered the victims to undergo medical examination at a Government hospital.
Kaswa committed the alleged offences from October 1 to October 23, 2015.
“The accused person is facing 10 criminal counts, five being charges of aggravated indecent assault in which he touched and inserted his fingers in the genitals of the complainants on different occasions.
“He is facing five more charges of indecent assault. He fondled the breasts and buttocks of the complainants,” Mr Chawatama told the court.
The complainants are all Grade Five, which he teaches.
“The offences were committed from October 1 to October 23, 2015. The accused would, on different occasions, instruct the complainants to stay behind in the class after dismissing other pupils.
“He would threaten the complainants with unspecified.
“The matter came to light after some of the abused girls reported their ordeal to one female teacher who informed her other female colleagues before making a report at Rusape Police Station,” said Mr Chawatama.
Kaswa tried to resist arrest, but police were equal to the task.
The accused attempted to escape arrest by hiding in a Blair toilet, but was fished out by alert police officers.
