BRIGHT Chipongo and Tracey Lee Harris are the winners of the city’s biggest cycling event and the country’s last national cycling event the Tour de Bulawayo sponsored by Ekhaya Cycles. Harare’s Bright Chipongo won the main event of the tour finishing in 5 hours 35 minutes 07 seconds while in the women’s catergory Tracey Lee Harris came first finishing the tour in 4 hours 58 minutes 29 seconds.
Chipongo said he was happy with his performance.
“I’m very happy with this win which will help a lot in my final time of the year. It was a very tough ride with Nkulumo Dube trailing not far away. I enjoyed the Tour de Bulawayo and I’m honoured to be the champion,” said Chipongo.
The two-day event attracted cyclists from all corners of the country. Some of the cyclists did not complete the race due to various reasons.
Chrispen Kazingizi the spokesperson of the organisers of the tour, said the event was a success and everyone who participated enjoyed the event.
The event featured eight different categories.
