A Chiredzi police officer locked himself in his Tshovani lodgings and torched himself in a suspected case of suicide.
The body of Constable July Nota(43) was burnt beyond recognition by the fire which also razed down the whole house, destroying property worth thousands of dollars.
Constable Nota shared the house with five other families in Tshovani Suburb.
It is believed that the police officer was having marital problems and this might have led him to commit suicide.
National police spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi said investigations are underway.
“We are still investigating to find out what happened and the quantum of the damage to the property,” he said.
