A 32-YEAR-OLD sex-starved Chisumbanje man was recently arrested for allegedly raping a four-year-old girl.
Chipinge District police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Blessing Kadzuraumera confirmed the arrest of Crispen Guramhamba of Mashuvani Village under Chief Garahwa’s area in Chipinge.
Asst Insp Kadzuraumera said Guramhanda was an uncle to the complainant.
“On December 15 at around 9pm, the accused was left in the custody of the complainant while her mother was going to fetch water from a river which is 3km away from the homestead.
“At around 11pm, the complaint’s father returned home from the pastures where he had gone to look for stray cattle and upon arrival, he found the accused in his bedroom hut raping the minor. After realising that he had been caught pants down, Guramhamba got up and ran away, leaving the complainant lying unconscious and bleeding. Her father took her outside where she gained consciousness.
“On December 16, the complainant’s father reported the case to ZRP Chisumbanje and who attended the scene. The accused was arrested,” he said.
The complainant was referred to St Peter’s Mission Hospital for medical examination and investigations are in progress.
Asst Insp Kadzuraumera urged mothers not to leave their young girls with male relatives because every man is a potential rapist.
