Chitembwe mocks Zhwane boys

WHILE it is clear that Caps United and Tsholotsho FC are the opposite ends of the same rope in relation to their positions on the Premiership league standings, coach Lloyd Chitembwe appeared to mock Iziqholo ZeZhwane by suggesting that nothing should stop them from dreaming of winning the league.

a?Even our opponents today (Wednesday) Tsholotsho Football Club also dream of winning the league. It is every teamas wish to be champions and not just Caps United,a? quipped Chitembwe when asked if he reckoned his team were better placed to win the 2016 season campaign.

His team beat the Bulawayo team 1-0 at Luveve Stadium in a mid-week fixture.

While the Harare giants side are comfortably sitting in the top three of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League Tsholotsho FC are deep in the relegation zone occupying the bottom three.

Chitembwe, however, remains modest about his chances of breaking the 10-year barren spell without winning the league title.

a?Speaking about winning the league title is tantamount to counting our chickens before they hatch. All the teams in the title race have a chance to win it, the league is now very competitive and we can only concentrate on winning our matches and not worry about other teamas results,a? he said.

Makepepeke last won the league title in 2005 and have watched in frustration while perennial rivals Highlanders and Dynamos take turns together with other minor clubs such as the now defunct Motor Action and Chicken Inn take the honours.

For Tsholotsho the same old story of fighting for survival in top flight football seems to be repeating itself again this season.

Iziqholo survived relegation on the last day of the 2015 season and are battling in the wrong side of the log standings together with fellow relegation candidates Mutare City Rovers FC and Border Strikers.
