BULAWAYO Christian League will stage its yearly orientation tournament for netball and football on Saturday at Raylton Sports Club to mark the beginning of the season.The tournament serves as an introduction of new teams to the league’s rules in netball and soccer.
In an interview BCL chairman Timothy Mandizadza said:
“All is set for the weekend tournament. So far we have more than 10 teams in soccer and six for netball who have confirmed they will be taking part,” he said.
Mandizadza said there are fears that the number of soccer teams coming on board might exceed their expectations which might force the association to establish another lower division to accommodate all teams.
“We cannot afford to go beyond 16 teams in soccer for our league. If it happens that we have more than that then we will resort to having two leagues, but that will come at a cost for us as we do not have a sponsor for the existing league,” he said.
He said so far the association, which enters its fourth year running, is headed in the right direction.
“We are happy for what we have achieved so far both in soccer and netball. We now hope to attract sponsorship for the league in the near future,” he said.
Mandizadza said there will be prizes for the overall winners in the two disciplines.
