Colonel Miniyothabo Baloyi Chiwenga, the national chairperson of the Miss Universe Zimbabwe organisation, has been selected as one of the official judges for this year’s Miss Universe pageant in Thailand.
This prestigious appointment places Zimbabwe firmly on the global pageantry map.
The announcement, made in Bangkok ahead of the grand finale, has been met with excitement both locally and internationally.
Colonel Baloyi Chiwenga joins an elite panel of global industry experts, fashion executives, former beauty queens, and cultural ambassadors who will determine the next Miss Universe from a field of more than 80 contestants.
Her selection is celebrated as a testament to her leadership, professionalism, and influence in the pageant space.
Since assuming the reins of Miss Universe Zimbabwe, she has been credited with transforming the organisation, strengthening its structure, and ensuring Zimbabwe returns to the Miss Universe stage with purpose, confidence, and world-class presentation.
Speaking after her confirmation as a judge, Colonel Baloyi Chiwenga expressed her honour at representing Zimbabwe on such a revered international platform.
“This responsibility is bigger than myself. It reflects Zimbabwe’s return to global participation and the world’s recognition of our standards,” she stated.
“Judging at Miss Universe requires fairness, cultural sensitivity, and a deep appreciation of what modern womanhood represents. I am humbled to contribute to that process.”
Observers note that her presence on the judging panel also brings pride to the Zimbabwean delegation currently in Thailand, including the country’s contestant, Lyshanda Moyas, who has been performing impressively throughout the competition.
As the world turns its attention to Bangkok for the crowning moment, Colonel Baloyi Chiwenga’s appointment stands as a historic milestone—a clear indication that Zimbabwean excellence is not only showcased on stage but is now also represented at the decision-making table at Miss Universe, which is significant for Africa as a whole.
