A CHITUNGWIZA con artist boasted in court yesterday that he has forged many O-Level certificates for people who were desperate to get jobs.
Jorum Skaliveni and Raymond Mangachena were arrested for forging O-Level certificates in which they changed the grades from Us to Bs to enable a man to apply for a job with the Zimbabwe National Army.
The certificate belonged to Carlos Chitsungo. They changed his grades from Us to Bs.
Chitsungo applied for admission into the ZNA before it was exposed that the certificates he provided were all fake, leading to his arrest and the arrest of his accomplices.
Skaliveni did not deny the allegations when he appeared at the Chitungwiza Magistrates’ Court
“We forged the certificates not only for Carlos but for many people.
“After the work was completed, we received an envelope which had money inside. When Carlos applied to join the army, that is what led to our arrest since the documents were found to be fake.
“All we wanted was money and we did not think that the certificates were going to be recognised as fake.”
His accomplice Mangachena did not deny the allegations and confirmed that he forged the certificates at his home.
“I forged the certificates with my friend since Carlos wanted to apply to join the army. After I completed my work, l was given an envelope, which had money inside, for the job that l had done.
“Carlos wanted me to remove the Us from his certificate and place Bs, which l did in the company of Joramu.
“We were arrested after it was discovered by the Zimbabwe National Army that the certificates were fake.
“It is not my first time forging certificates for the people.”
