Conference to set recovery tone

that the party will come up with resolutions to solidify Zimbabwe’s economic empowerment agenda.
More than 3 000 delegates travelled from all over the country to attend the conference, the last before elections set for next year.

The conference will review the state and performance of the party, including its organisation and mobilisation strategies ahead of the referendum and subsequent elections. Zanu-PF seeks to look at strategies for generating income, while reviewing political developments in the country and progress and prospects in the implementation of the Global Political Agreement that led to the formation of the inclusive Government. Delegates to the annual conference will look at highlights of key political pointers at all levels and their implications for the party.

They will look at strategies for enhancing gains achieved in women’s politics and economic issues, including application of the full rule of equality before and equity of opportunities for all.
According to the conference agenda, delegates will also discuss strategies for enhancing programmes and projects that would positively affect women’s participation in empowerment programmes.
They will look at strategies for mobilising youths at all levels and empower youths and women using opportunities offered by the economic empowerment agenda.

The meeting will also discuss geo-political developments on the international forum and their impact on the party and have an overview and analysis of Zimbabwe’s economic performance and its effect on the party’s programmes.

Delegates are expected to review progress and challenges in the implementation of the indigenisation and economic empowerment programmes, opportunities arising from its implementation, while focusing on productivity in the economy at all levels.

The performance of social services will also come under review including a review of successes and challenges of policies and initiatives on health, child welfare, education, sports and culture.
The conference seeks to review the provision of transport, communication and shelter around the country, while looking at strategies for enhancing social security interventions and measures to empower vulnerable groups, including the elderly and disadvantaged.

The meeting seeks to review the performance of the media, science and technology.
It will look for ways of exploiting new multi-media platforms at all levels as tools of mobilising women, youths and other sectors of the party.
Delegates will also examine threats posed by the media against the party and the country.
