Hlatswayo was appointed following reports of financial mismanagement leading to an industrial action after employees failed to access their November and December salaries. Employees have since returned to work after getting their November salaries.
Council has also promised the workers their December salaries in the first two weeks of January. The probe team yesterday met with councillors in the council chambers.
The team is working on terms of reference set by Acting Local Government, Rural and Urban Development Minister Joseph Made in his letter dated 28 December 2011.
The team was tasked to establish the veracity of the alleged usurpation of mayoral powers by deputy mayor Clr Rangarirai Mutingwende. It would also probe the supposed abuse of council resources by Mr Tanyanyiwa including unlimited access to cash and access to council fuel for personal use.
