Corruption accused senior cop granted $30 000 bail

The officer commanding, Zimbabwe Republic Police, Mashonaland West province, Assistant Commissioner Coneli Dube, who appeared this morning in court for a criminal abuse of office charge has been remanded out of custody.

Provincial magistrate, Ms Ruth Moyo remanded Dube to October 20 during his routine remand appearance today after she consented to bail on September 24.

Through an application made by his lawyer, Mr Tinashe Dzvore of Mushonga, Mutsvairo and Associates, Dube was granted $30 000 bail coupled with various conditions including not to interfere with witnesses, to reside at ZRP Tomlinson Depot until the matter was finalised and to report once a week on Fridays at ZRP Highlands Police Station.

During the bail application, Mr Dzvore had argued that his client was on work vacation hence he would not interfere with witnesses.
