THE City of Harare is warning residents to be vigilant against individuals posing as city officials.
This follows recent reports of scammers who are roaming the streets, demanding bribes and extorting money from unsuspecting people.

Municipal police have apprehended Kevin Dube, operating under the alias Kevin Muropa, over the issue.

Dube was reportedly carrying out fraudulent shop license enforcement activities.

In a statement, council urged Harare residents who have fallen victim to the scam to make a police report.

“The City of Harare encourages all residents to report any suspicious activity by individuals claiming to be city officials. If you encounter anyone demanding bribes, it is advisable to report to the authorities and if possible record the interaction,” reads the statement.
