A USHEWOKUNZE couple applied for protection orders against each other at the Harare Civil Court yesterday.

Tonderai Hombarume sought a protection order against his wife, Cecilia Hombarume.

He sensationally claimed that Cecilia was in the habit of assaulting and harassing him at the College they own.

He told the court that Cecilia always threatened to burn the whole school and take the school property.

“She harasses and insults me in front of teachers and the staff.

“One day she said she is going to demolish the whole college,” he said.

Cecilia applied for a counter protection order, saying she was the one being harassed by Tonderai at the College.

She said she had been suffering at the hands of her husband for quite some time as he didn’t bother catering for his family.

She said she didn’t know where he stayed.

“He is lying. He is the one who says mean words to me at the college and is not depositing my salary. “He even told the tenants not to give me rentals from our other house in Stoneridge.

“He sold one of my stands at Churu Farm,” she said.

Magistrate Tamara Chibindi asked Tonderai why he hadn’t paid his wife for the past seven years and why he sold her property?

Tonderai said the college wasn’t making much profit.

Magistrate Chibindi postponed the matter to Thursday.
