A CROCO Motors employee appeared in court yesterday facing charges of duping the company of over 5000 litres of fuel.
Gutsikai Mudowaya was not asked to plead when he appeared before Harare magistrate Isheanesu Matova.
The complainant is Croco Motors, represented by Tariro Mtemachani.
The court heard that in December last year Mudowaya, who is the forecourt supervisor and is responsible for reconciling the daily bulk fuel sales from the sales sheet, hatched a plan to defraud Croco Motors.
It is alleged that he manipulated the transaction data from Pinnacle DMS and reports in Filer Maker, which is the Redan Reporting System, by under estimating fuel sales.
On January 16, this year, Croco Motors checked entries that were posted for the month of December in the FileMaker and Pinnacle and there was a difference of 2934 litres of diesel and 3019 litres of blend petrol which was not declared by Mudowaya.
An investigation was done and it was established that transaction logs in the system reflected that the transactions were done by Mudowaya.
On review of the documents, it was discovered that in December, Mudowaya allegedly under estimated fuel sales of 5952 litres with the value of US$8 985.
Croco Motors suffered a prejudice of US$8985 and nothing was recovered.
