AS the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) marks its 10th anniversary, it’s not just popping champagne – it’s declaring war on cyber crooks!
In a bold move to tackle digital devils and data bandits, Rex Tawanda Shana, the Deputy Chairperson of the NPAZ Board and Zimbabwe’s Law Revisor, dropped some legal heat at a high-powered prosecutors’ WORKSHOP in Harare recently.
The no-nonsense gathering, spearheaded by the NPAZ, focused on the Cybercrime and Data Protection Act – a law that’s fast becoming a frontline weapon against Zimbabwe’s rising wave of online scams, hacking, and digital deception.
“This is not the time to relax,” said Shana, addressing a room packed with legal eagles. “Cybercriminals are evolving, and so must we. Our prosecutors need to be ahead of the game – sharp, trained, and ready.”
The workshop is part of a broader NPAZ initiative to sharpen prosecutorial claws in the face of modern crimes that respect no borders and often leave victims digitally bruised and financially battered.
As the NPAZ celebrates 10 years of fighting crime and corruption (2015–2025), it’s clear the war has moved from the streets to the screens – and Zimbabwe’s justice warriors are gearing up for battle.
“Justice doesn’t sleep – and neither do cyber crooks,” quipped one prosecutor. “But with the right tools and training, neither will we.”
Watch this space – cybercrime just met its match!
