SOME daring thieves struck at the Kentucky Prison Camp in Harare and stole prison storeroom keys from an officer’s house.
Albertina Francisco, 46, also lost her car keys to the same thieves during a burglary at her home.
She was asleep, at around 3am, when the thieves struck. The thieves also stole her laptop and two Samsung cellphones.
Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the case.
He said another woman, Chipo Mashunye, 44, an Internal Auditor at the Industrial Development Cooperation, also lost cash to thieves who raided her house in the Avenues area of Harare.
“An Avenues woman locked her doors and windows before she left home to go to work.
“Upon returning home from work, on the same day, she discovered that US$8,200 was missing.”
An intruder, said Inspector Chakanza, broke into her house, went into her bedroom and stole US$8,000 from a metal cash box, along with an additional US$200 from her handbag.
The police are investigating both incidents.
