MASVINGO District Darts Association will over the weekend play host to a darts tournament at Mutimba Grassland Sports Bar. League matches, according to the organisers, will be held on Saturday with the tournament set for Sunday. “There’s a lot of darts action billed for the weekend, as normal league games will be played on Saturday before the tournament on Sunday,” said Bornface Moyo, the organising committee spokesman.
He called on darts fans in the town to turn up and enjoy the matches.
“A lot of people in Masvingo enjoy playing and watching the game, and therefore this tournament provides them with an opportunity to be part of the darts family,” said Moyo.
“We’ll start the first knockout stages of the tournament on Sunday after the arrival of the sponsors who will be travelling from Harare the same morning,” he said.
Moyo said that 10 teams will participate in the tournament namely Benzi, Landmark, Charandura, Great Zimbabwe Museum, Shumba, Rujeko, Burning Spear, Railstars, 4 Lions and Snippers. They will be divided into five groups for the first round knockout stages.
Tournament Fixtures
Group A: Benzi v Landmark, Group B: Charandura v Great Zimbabwe Museum, Group C : Shumba v Rujeko, Group D: Burning Spear v Railstars, Group E: 4 Lions v Snippers.
