Deals for Chigwada, Rinomhota

STARLET David Chigwada has remained as the only Zimbabwean at West Ham United Academy for the forthcoming 2025/26 after Sean Tamira’s divorce from the academy three months ago.

Tarima (20) is now under the books of English non-league side FC Halifax Town.
Aged 17, Chigwada who was born in the UK to Zimbabwean parents, remains under contract after signing his first professional deal in November 2024.

The young forward joined West Ham United’s Academy from Manchester City, initially signing a scholarship deal in the summer of 2024. He has primarily played for the Under-18s during the 2024/2025 season.

West Ham confirmed Chigwada’s retention on their official list following the conclusion of the 2024/25 season.
Meanwhile, new Cardiff City coach Brian Barry-Murphy has revealed that he wants to resolve the future of midfielder Andy Rinomhota “quickly and promptly.”

Rinomhota’s current contract is set to expire at the end of June 2025.
Cardiff, who will be playing in English League One following their relegation from the EFL Championship, announced they are negotiating a new contract after offering the Zimbabwean midfielder a new deal.
Joe Ralls was also offered a new contract.

Speaking to BBC Sport, Barry-Murphy said: “I know Andy from when he was at Reading as a young player and have followed his career growth.

“Joe Ralls has a deep connection with this club and has been exceptional for everyone here. Out of respect for both players, we have an obligation to handle this situation quickly and promptly.

“I’ll be having those discussions over the next two days, and we will communicate clearly with our supporters after speaking with the players to move this forward.”

The contract offer follows Rinomhota’s remarkable turnaround with the Bluebirds after returning from a loan spell last season. The 27-year-old, who was an unused substitute in the first six matches of the campaign, became a regular starter, featuring in 31 games across all competitions.

Initially deployed in his usual midfield role, the Zimbabwe international also filled in at right-back, delivering consistently strong defensive performances.

His teammates voted him their standout star of the season.
Rinomhota, a Warriors midfielder, was nominated for the Player of the Season award but finished as runner-up to Callum Robinson.
