THE Bulawayo Metropolitan Province Darts League continued with their matches on Thursday night with defending champions, Archers winning their duel against Bellevue. League spokesperson, Lethukuthula Nkomo said significant wins were recorded by ZRP Bulawayo and perennial title challengers Railstars.

“Some notable wins from Archers, Railstars and ZRP Bulawayo showed the intent of these clubs to gather points at the beginning of the league,” Nkomo said.

ZRP Bulawayo beat How Mine 30-9, the same scoreline recorded by Railstars against Maison Nic.

Ernest Maphepha of Archers Club said he was pleased with the performance.

He said their aim was to have a good start to the league that would set the tone for the team throughout the rest of the season.

“We played well as a team even though we’d rested some of our key players. We came out with some new combinations for the fixtures and it paid off. Semion James and Tafadzwa Mtomba won all six of their games and Albert Tawanda weighed in at five, hitting a 180. The season is still early but I’m glad we have started on a positive note because this is critical for the mentality of the players,” he said.
