Felicia Phiri is a proud Zimbabwean fashion designer who wants to showcase the country’s rich cultural heritage through her designs.

Growing up, Phiri was taught to appreciate Zimbabwean culture and tradition from a young age.
Her elders taught her the importance of dressing as a Zimbabwean woman, and her travels across Africa broadened her understanding of the continent’s rich cultural heritage.

Today, Phiri is committed to promoting Zimbabwean culture through her fashion designs, using the country’s national fabric.
“I want to be identified through the national fabric wherever I am. For me, fashion is not just about clothes, it’s about telling a story, it’s about showcasing our rich cultural heritage,” she said.

Phiri’s impressive portfolio includes dressing TV presenters, award-winning musicians, and the reigning Miss and Mr Rural Zimbabwe.

Her designs have been praised for their unique blend of modernity and tradition, making her a leader in the Zimbabwean fashion industry.

One of her designs recently won top honours at the Southern African Development Community (SADC) fashion exhibition — a testament to her exceptional talent and dedication to Zimbabwean fashion.

As the year starts, Phiri is planning to kick start it on a high note with her brand, A’nguni Collections, set to be launched in Bulawayo and Harare.

The brand features a stunning collection of African bridal wear made from Zimbabwe’s national fabric.
Phiri’s vision is to create a platform where people can appreciate and celebrate Zimbabwean culture without discrimination, emphasising the importance of promoting national pride and identity.

Also on the pipeline is to launch a project called African Jewel which aims at identifying and mentoring young designers who share her passion for Zimbabwean culture and heritage.
Through this project, she hopes to inspire a new generation of designers to value and celebrate Zimbabwean culture.
