A YEAR after being fired for losing against CAPS United at Rufaro, Rodwell Dhlakama has rejoined GreenFuel ahead of a trip to Makepekepe this weekend.
Dhlakama, who was in charge of Hwange in the ZIFA Southern Region Division One, was re-appointed head coach yesterday.
GreenFuel management acted swiftly following Sunday’s humiliation at Gibbo where relegation-threatened Triangle stormed to a 5-0 halftime lead while the match eventually ended 5-1.
Coach Taurai Mangwiro has since been kicked upstairs and will be the technical director.
Dhlakama’s first assignment is a trip to Rufaro for a date with CAPS United, almost 15 months after losing his job after this fixture.
CAPS United won the match 3-0 to send Dhlakama packing and he ended the season at the Colliery where he agonisingly failed to save Hwange from Premiership relegation.
He had started off well in the ZIFA Southern Region Division One where the coal miners are three points behind leaders, Bulawayo Chiefs.
In a statement yesterday, GreenFuel said Dhlakama’s return was part of strategic changes have been made to the club’s technical team in an effort to strengthen performance and technical capabilities.
“Rodwell Dhakama has been appointed as Head Coach of GreenFuel Football Club with immediate effect. His contract will run until the end of the 2025 PSL Football Season.
“Taurai Mangwiro, who was previously serving as head coach, has been elevated to the role of technical director, also effective immediately, until the conclusion of the 2025 PSL Football Season.
”All other members of the technical team will continue in their current roles and will continue to serve the club with the same dedication and professionalism.
”We warmly welcome him back and wish him great success in his renewed leadership role,” read a statement from GreenFuel.
