Zimbabwe will this week host the Innovation Africa Digital Summit where the country is expected to showcase its information communication technology sector to potential investors.
This year’s summit, the 13th such gathering, is expected to draw 400 delegates.
Innovation Africa Digital Summit is a yearly event hosted by African countries to showcase their ICT products and alternatives to improve the ICT sector.
South Africa, Tanzania, Ethiopia and Gambia have previously hosted the summit.

The event that will run from the 14th to the 16th in Victoria Falls will run under the theme “Affordable Access” focusing on affordability of access to information by African countries.
Speaking during a press briefing, the Deputy Minister of Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services Mr Win Mlambo said the summit would present a big opportunity for the development of the country’s economy, while correcting the negative perception created by the West.
“This is an opportunity for Zimbabwe to showcase to the world the country’s ICT sector functionality and its cross-sector linkages in the Zimbabwean economy.
“The summit offers an opportunity to correct the negative perception created largely by the western media. As the foreign dignitaries attend, they will see for themselves the country’s hospitality, unparalleled peace and security,” he said.
The conference will discuss infrastructure development in the ICT, internet for development, pricing of ICT products and services, marketing strategies and public private partnership in the ICT sector.
This year’s conference is being sponsored by 34 partners and 50 countries among them China, Afghanistan, Israel, UK, Netherlands, USA, France, Switzerland and Belgium, South Sudan, South Africa, Kenya and Ghana which have since announced their attendance.
