A MAN from Harare, Stancilus Makoni, has dragged his daughter-in-law, Rutendo Kumbure, to the civil court, accusing her of disrespect and verbal abuse stemming from her frequent drunkenness. Makoni claims that Kumbure returns home at midnight, often intoxicated, and insults him.

The father-in-law further alleged that Kumbure has threatened violence and even hinted at suicide within the household.

In her defence, Kumbure denied the accusations, saying her late hours are due to her job as a cook at Changamire Restaurant.

She accused her father-in-law of causing the conflict by taking her husband’s clothes and placing them in his own room. Presiding magistrate Ms Meenal Narotam granted a protection order in favour of Makoni.
