Divine Appointments: The journey, the destination: Celebrating 2016

After the prayer and fasting, some people feel cleansed and committed to partake of the journey until the December 31 crossover destination into 2017.
Once more, they will sing with joy that, “This is the day which the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” (Psalms 118:24)
They are excited that as with previous years, God’s thoughts, His word for 2016 was made known through the men and women He anointed to shepherd in the various churches they fellowship. With the exception of a few churches, that word or theme was unveiled on New Year’s eve.
Although that word (prophetic word) might be for the congregates of that Church, the bottom line is that it is the word of salvation for all creation, notwithstanding distance or time.
It is a word of hope for the Lord declares in Jeremiah 29:11 (KJV), “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, said the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”
The MSG version says: “I know what I am doing. I have it all planned out – plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.”
We look at some of the local, continental and global churches’ themes and prophetic words.
1. Grace upon grace
The Apostolic Faith Mission, Amazing Grace Centre’s 2016 theme is “Grace upon grace”. It is derived from John 1:16 which says, “For, from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.”
Reverend Happymore of the Amazing Grace Centre declared on January 1, 2016 that, “Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16)
He emphasised how God can decorate us with ornaments of grace in 2016.
“Where you will go, whatever you will do, let grace be part of you,” said Rev Gotora.
“The ornament of grace will make you irresistible; you will not be denied access whenever opportunities arise,” he added.
Rev Gotora also said as the result of the ornament of grace, believers will witness unprecedented breakthroughs in their lives.
2. Re-establishment with
illumination
Christian Healing for all Nations welcomed 2016 as “The year of re-establishment with illumination”. The theme is based on Genesis 13:14.
CHM fan’s overseer, Pastor Anselm Mvenge declared, “While during the past two years you have witnessed corruption being exposed, and people being given opportunities for a fresh start where they would have repented and turned to God – people, nations and organisations – were given opportunity for transformation.
“True fresh starts and transformations only take place when people, nations and the world are obedient to God’s word just as Ezekiel 37:1-14 reminds us,” he said.
He added, “Hebrews 11:6 says, it is not possible to please God without faith. In the same way, re-establishment with illumination is a step above fresh start and transformation. Where there is corruption, there cannot be any re-establishment with illumination.
“Re-establishment with illumination will only be a product of absolute obedience to the Word of God. You must know that the world in which we are living in today is getting darker and darker because of the increase in evil activities.
“In Matthew 24:11-12, the Lord Jesus Christ says, ‘Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved.’
“Today, there is so much disappointment in the world. However, this disappointment can be turned to appointment when you hold on to the word of God and listen to God in whatever decision you are to make. This is what Abraham did after he was disappointed by His cousin Lot in Genesis 13,” said Pastor Anselm.
“Having been together all the way from Haran to Canaan, Lot decided to go his own way because of the wealth he had received through Abraham’s faithfulness to God. Lot’s decision and choice was rather emotional and not the right decision because it was not an act of faith.
“Abraham waited on God for his next move after Lot disappointed him. He waited upon God for his re-establishment with illumination. Illumination only comes from the light of God. When God is not in your choices, everything you do will be in darkness.
“According to Genesis 13:14, ‘And the Lord said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him; ‘Lift your eyes now and look from the place where you are – northward, southward, eastward, and westward; for all the land which you see I give to you and your descendants forever; and I will make your descendants as the dust of the earth…’
He also said, “This was re-establishment for Abraham following disappointment. Today, I am saying to you, stop concentrating on your disappointments during the past years. Be a visionary like your father Abraham. Make the Word of God your standard and believe in God’s promises for you.
“Just as God used Abraham to illuminate those around him and the whole world including yourself, allow yourself to be invaded by the word of God so that you may also light up the world around you with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Live a life of righteousness just as Abraham and Noah did and God will use you by the power of His Holy Spirit to re-establish your family, your neighbour, your nation and the world as you walk in His love through faith in His word.
“Do not follow crowds, but obey and follow the word of God. During the time of Noah crowds were destroyed by floods while only eight souls who were faithful to the word of God were saved and through them God re-established the existing world.
Abraham was called from out of the crowds in Haran for his re-establishment in Canaan. Matthew 7:13-14 says, “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who findit.
“During this year 2016, yield yourself to God so that He will make you His instrument for the re-establishment of many lost souls whose lives are so empty of the life giving word of God. Because Abraham remained faithful to God, at God’s appointed time, in Genesis 18:1-15, God visited him and his wife and re-established and illuminated them by pronouncing that they would soon have a son, Isaac.
“Finally, let me say to you, stop concentrating on your past disappointments, but concentrate on God’s promises upon your life, for in them you will certainly receive your re-establishment and illumination.”
We will in future instalments examine his repeated prophecy on drought (since 2012), together with others like the one given by Prophet T.B. Joshua of the Synagogue Church of All Nations, and the call for a paradigm shift in the agricultural sector through the use of irrigation systems.
3. Elshaddai 2016 watchword
Elshaddai Ministries International says 2016 is a year to hear and to do… complete heart overhaul: “and the Lord will heal our land completely and bring restoration.” (Isaiah 62:1, Jeremiah 30:17, Acts 3:19-21)
Their declaration is: “For you (Lord) to restore everything the enemy has stolen from us and heal our hearts of all past hurts; to deliver our lives to better pasturelands “
Bishop Patience Hove called out, “God hear us and restore us!”
4. Year of the great breaking loose
On the international arena, the Lord gave Jerry Savelle, president of the Jerry Savelle Ministries International (USA) a prophetic word on October 2 to 4, 2015 in which he said: “Extraordinary things are taking place in the heavenlies and 2016 will come to be known as ‘The year of the great breaking loose’.
Savelle declared, “More and more notable miracles will break loose in the earth; more and more signs and wonders; more and more angelic visitations; more and more instant healings; more and more deliverances from demonic activity; and more and more finances will break loose so ‘My people can do more for the Kingdom’, said the Lord.
“And, during this time of the great breaking loose, the enemy will no longer be able to hold back that which My faithful ones have stood in faith for, not even the things that looked as though they would never come to pass;for, I will cause them to break loose and to suddenly manifest and to do so in such a way that no one will be able to deny the greatness of your God.
Savelle said the Lord added, “Yes, 2016 will be a year in which the faithful shall be rewarded beyond their highest expectations and they shall abound in My blessings as never before.”
