The annual tournament, which was initially scheduled for last month, was postponed and will now be staged this Saturday.
The tournament will see 13 primary schools and five secondary schools taking part in one of the prestigious tournament in the region, which will see participants take part in soccer and netball.
National Trust for Schools Excellence, which was formed in 1996 and now runs two tournaments, are the organisers of the event.
The trust’s chairperson Juliana Sabarauta believes the participation by schools will go a long way in helping develop sport at grassroots levels.
“Our aim is to nurture both soccer and netball talent in rural areas.
“We have noted that there is raw talent in the rural areas and we are looking forward to exposing that talent as much as we can.
“We also urge people from the area and former students at schools to plough back into the community,” Sabarauta said.
The secondary schools expected to take part include the hosts Dombwe, Gumbanjera, Mutize, Chemapango Nhowe and Jekwa High schools.
The tournament was established last year and the organisers are looking forward to better times this time.
