In this column we have picked some of the programmes to guide you on what you can look forward to this week. When I was India the film “Saawariya” was a big hit and a huge success at the box office. So when I realised that DStv’s SET Max will be screening the flick I jumped out from my couch.
This film is one to watch. It is a poetic love story based on Ranbir Raj, who is smitten by a mystery girl he meets briefly one night. He later discovers her name is Sakina and tries to declare his undying love for her only to find she’s in love with another.
Ranbir tries to move on but, after finding out that Sakina’s love interest is a figment of her imagination, tries to pursue her again. When Sakina falls in love with Ranbir, Imaan her former love appears forcing her to choose between the two.
The film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Ranbir Raj, Sonam Kapoor as Sakina, Zohra Sehgal as Lilian aka Lilipop, Rani Mukerji as Gulabji and Salman Khan as Imaan.
Saawariya is on the screen tonight at 21:00 hours on SET Max channel (457).

Since Zimbabwe is bracing for the Nigerian duo PSquare who are headlining at this year’s Lion Lager Summer Festival we picked on this programme just to let their fans know what’s up.
The Nigerian twins, Paul and Peter Okoye, have taken the African continent by storm with African R&B socca — a musical style of their own invention.

Just as there are new radio stations in Zimbabwe on DStv music lovers get to choose what they want from Trace Urban, Channel O to VHI which is my favourite music channel.
But on Channel O, they are bringing Khaled Bin Abdul Khaled, who goes by DJ Khaled on stage, who is a rapper, producer, radio and club DJ and a record label executive.
Born in New Orleans, DJ Khaled is of Palestinian descent and currently calls Florida home. Here, he is a radio host for the Miami-based urban music radio station WEDR and the DJ for the hip- hop group Terror Squad. Since 2006, Khaled has released six albums — the most recent of which is his 2012 release, “Kiss the Ring”.
In 2009, Khaled became the president of Def Jam South and he is making major musical waves in 2012, as his brand new track, “I Wish You Would”, features rap kingpins Kanye West and Rick Ross. Impenetrable rainforests, sweeping savannah and mysterious mountains make up Guyana — one of the least explored lands on Earth. In a bid to find new species, the expedition team venture into this untouched land.
This South American country the size of Britain boasts some of the most diverse and pristine rainforests in the world. The wilderness is so remote and hidden that it has avoided the chainsaw — so far.
Now the rainforests of Guyana are under threat. With the impoverished government reluctantly opening up the interior for logging, yet determined to save the wildlife, the work of the Expedition team will help to save one of the world’s most isolated environments.
An international team of biologists and explorers visit a remote forest camp deep in the jungle. Their task is to find as many different types of animals and plants as they can, and to make a rapid assessment of the wealth of the rainforest.
This jungle is home to many of the giants of the rainforest — giant turtle, giant anaconda, giant anteater, the jaguar, giant otter, harpy eagle, giant tarantula and many, many more. The team is guaranteed to find new species. The only question is — just how many?
Capturing the highs and the lows, the frustrations and successes, Expedition Guyana illustrates what it is like to be an explorer.
