PEOPLE posting unverified information on social media have been warned by police.
The call follows arrest of Sandra Mazviita Pamberi, 45, whose video went viral on social media making damning allegations against Darlington Machipisa of Adela Contracting Company.
National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said Sandra is facing Cyber and Data Protection Act (Chapter 12:07) (No. 5 of 2021).
“Police arrested a woman believed to have posted false information concerning a construction company,” said Ass-Comm Nyathi.
“The company was drawing water for road construction and was cleared by Environmental Management Agency and ZINWA.
“She is expected to appear in court today.
“’We continue to urge people to be responsible when they want to give information.
“Some information may be damaging, criminal and above all causing people to panic.
“Avoid posting unverified information on social media, anyone caught will be arrested,” said Ass-Comm Nyathi.
