ZIMBABWEAN gospel music sensation Dorcas Moyo now holds three gongs under the Clima Africa Awards after she scooped two gongs at the 2025 edition held on Sunday at a hotel in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The Clima Africa Awards recognise and celebrate individuals and organisations making a meaningful impact across various sectors, including music, leadership, and global citizenship.
Moyo’s debut nod was last year when she was crowned the Africa Female Gospel Artiste of the Year award.
This year, she won the Africa Indigenous Gospel Artist of the Year, an award that acknowledges her dedication to indigenous gospel music.
She held her head and mic high to topple some of the continent’s top gospel powerhouses, including Winnie Mashaba, Janet Otieno, Chinyere Udoma, Sarah Apekeola, and Azwi Kokela.
Her second award this year was the CLIMA Africa People’s Choice Award, which highlights the strong support she received from fans in Zimbabwe and beyond.
Speaking to Zimpapers Arts and Entertainment on Monday evening, before she leaves on Tuesday for a UK tour, Moyo said she is grateful to the growing support of her brand. Moyo, is expected to perform on Saturday at the Worship Night gig to be held at Dunstable Conference Centre.
“It’s always an unbelievable feeling to realise that you are counted among the best on the continent. Honestly, l’m highly elated to have landed the converted songs. This is a testimony that there is a cord we are striking right and it has been noticed across the continent. It is evident enough that the branding is growing and we are happy. At least we are seeing the possibility of attaining our set targets, albeit far off.
“Higher still Higher is our motto. I know for certain that my management will push for more. We agreed that we would celebrate for a nanosecond and go back to the trenches. The challenge with winning awards is that it becomes insatiable, and you always want to strive for more. As such we will strive to harness as much as possible. Even if it means a Grammy so be it,” said Moyo.
She thanked the support from her local base and promised those abroad a memorable show.
“I just want to thank my fellow Zimbabweans for making me believe and the awards are a dedication to them all far and wide for the confidence they instilled in me. My management, you are indispensable, my band, you shine, my family, you are my pillar, my prayer mates, you are the invisible force and my fans only God know how to reward you. Thank you all who contribute to be success of DM Music.
“To those abroad, this weekend is a time to experience the live feel from DM Music as we bring to you for the first time the Mugeri Tsvatu album,” said Moyo.
