THE Doves Harare Province Division Two and Three quarter-final matches explode into life at Danny Bismark today amid high expectations that there will be a number of good and close contests.
The tournament has seen 52 clubs taking part and eight teams now remain in the race for the trophy.
Today’s quarter-finals will see Budiriro taking on University and Borrowdale Hatcliffe dating Botafago.
Tomorrow Kuwadzana will face Ghetto Pirates while Seedco play Cargo Carriers.
The Doves Division Two and Three soccer tournament was launched last month.
Harare Province board member (finance) Godfrey Chifamba said they were looking forward to a competitive and exciting two days of football.
“We have now reached the advanced stages and we are happy with the progress made so far and we are confident that the quarter-finals will be very competitive, considering the quality of the teams that have been eliminated.
“The sponsors Doves have pledged to cater for all the costs which include administrative costs, referees and all the refreshments.
“And the deal is a lucrative one considering very few corporates would like to associate with teams in the lower divisions.
“We are very grateful to Doves who have committed themselves to sponsoring the whole tournament.” Chifamba said.
The Zifa Harare Metropolitan province made history by becoming the first league, outside the Premiership and Division One, to secure a fully-funded knockout tournament.
Doves have also offered decent burial packages for the league’s members at a premium of just US$3,50 for a single member and US$5 for the family.
