PROMINENT educationist Dr Patricia Gonde of Lusitania Primary School in Harare was recently awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award in Global Education Leadership at the World Leaders Summit at the University of Oxford in England.
The accolade, which was presented by the Mayor of Oxford, Councillor Louise Upton, recognises over three decades of commitment to advancing educational equity and empowering youth worldwide.
The summit, hosted by Global Empire Events, brought together 240 delegates from 30 countries, including entrepreneurs, educators, social impact leaders, UK mayors, and members of the House of Lords.
Dr Patricia Gonde said she was honoured to serve communities, reaffirming her commitment to ensure every child, regardless of background, has access to quality education.
“As an educationist from Zimbabwe, with over three decades of experience, this award validates my commitment to educational equity and empowerment.
“It is a testament to the belief that every girl and boy, regardless of their background, deserves access to a quality education that can transform their lives,” said Dr Gonde.
Dr Gonde said she dedicated the award to the teachers, students and communities she has served, noting it strengthens her resolve to advocate for youth.
“I dedicate this award to the teachers, students and communities I have had the privilege to serve.
“It reinforces my mission to ensure the youth are given the tools and support needed to become the purposeful leaders of tomorrow,” she said.
Dr Gonde said she remains committed to partnering with likeminded people, and organisations, to make education a universal right.
“I remain committed to working with like-minded individuals and organisations to create a world where education is a right, not a privilege, and where our youth are truly empowered to lead.”
