A suspected drug addict went berserk and bit his father on the head in a dispute over a disc plough he had attempted to sell without the father’s consent.
The 32-year-old Happymore Madombwe appeared before magistrate Simon Kandiero charged with physical abuse and intimidation.
The court heard that on August 3, Madombwe of Sally Mugabe Heights took a disc plough intending to sell it as he is in the habit of taking things at home and selling them to fund his drug behaviour.
The father learnt about his intention to sell the plough and hid it.
This allegedly infuriated Madombwe, who then attacked his father and bit him on his head causing him to sustain a deep cut. Later on the same day, Madombwe returned home holding a machete and iron rod charging towards his father.
He threatened to assault him with the weapons.
The father ran into the house and locked himself in his bedroom protecting himself from the danger that seemed imminent.
Madombwe left the weapons in his bedroom and left the house again allowing his father to recover the weapons and to file a police report. Madombwe was remanded in custody until today for bail considerations.
Polite Chikiwa appeared for the State.
