A Harare resident claims that his wife assaults him over dirty dishes.
Albert Gomo sought a protection order against his wife, Trish Mangwira, at the Civil Court citing repeated instances of physical assault.
He claimed that Trish attacks him when he fails to wash dishes, locks him in their home, and damages his clothing.
“She locks the door and hits me and on Saturday, she tore my clothes over a misunderstanding. Albert further stated that his wife leaves dirty dishes and diapers scattered around the house and becomes violent when confronted about her behaviour.
He claimed that he often cleans up after her messes and is served food on dirty plates due to her alleged laziness.
“She is in the habit of leaving dirty dishes and diapers lying around when l confronts her, she becomes violent.
“I am served food on dirty plates because she is too lazy to clean the dishes.
“Sometimes l am the one who cleans after her messes.”
Trish denied the claims, stating that she had no comment and that the court could rule as it was pleased.
“I have no comment and he can say whatever he wants to. The court can rule as it pleases,” she said.
Magistrate Meenal Naratom granted Albert a protection order, providing him with legal protection from his wife’s alleged abusive behaviour.
