A PHYSICALLY impaired suspected drug dealer swallowed a sachet of crystal meth, in a bid to evade arrest.
Batsirai Makoni was arrested in the ongoing ‘‘Siyai Zvinodhaka’’ blitz against drug peddlers and users.
He fought the police while resisting arrest and his crutches were broken. Makoni was carried into the Harare Magistrates’ Court by his co-accused Royal Rusere.
Magistrate Stanford Mambanje remanded them in custody pending a bail hearing.
Allegations are that last Wednesday, officers from Highlands Police Station, who were part of the blitz, received information that Makoni was in possession of dangerous drugs.
Acting on the tip-off, police went to Glen Lorne shops where they found Makoni sitting in a small hut with some suspected drug users. The police identified themselves and began searching the men.
Makoni swallowed a crystal meth sachet he had before fighting the police as he resisted arrest. After being subdued, Makoni implicated Rusere, who was searched and found in possession of a sachet of dagga, and two joints of weed, in his pocket, leading to his arrest.
