DRUNKEN SON BASHES MUM FOR ‘DISRESPECTING’ HIM ! Plates fly as 32-year-old loses it in violent rage

A 32-YEAR-OLD Bulawayo man flew into a drunken rage and beat up his mother, accusing her of disrespecting him as the eldest son.

Zibusiso Phiri of Ntabazinduna Flats is now facing charges of domestic violence after he allegedly assaulted his 59-year-old mother, Pretty Dube, in a shocking display of rage and entitlement.

According to police reports, the incident happened on 14 July 2025 around 6PM when Phiri came home heavily drunk. Upon entering the house, he reportedly threw a childish tantrum shouting and throwing plates around, accusing his mother of treating him like a child.

The shouting match escalated into a brutal assault as Phiri punched his mother several times.
Fearing for her life, Dube fled the house and rushed to Mzilikazi Police Station where she filed a report against her son. Police reacted swiftly and arrested Phiri, who is now cooling his heels in custody.

Sources close to the family say this wasn’t the first time Phiri had been violent while drunk, but this time he crossed the line.
Police have confirmed the arrest on X and said Phiri will face the full wrath of the law.
