Duo nabbed for drugs possession

POLICE in Manicaland are intensifying the fight against dangerous substances, with two suspects being nabbed in Mutare and Macheke for unlawful possession of drugs respectively.

Police confirmed the arrest of Johannes Ndarowa (41) and Ivan Gombere (36) for possessing dagga and cough syrups, among other drugs.

Writing on the X (formerly Twitter) handle, police said: “On December 30, 2025, police in Mutare acted on received information and arrested Johannes Ndarowa (41) at a car park in Sakubva for unlawful possession of dagga, Broncleer Cough Syrup, Astra Pain Cough Syrup and Benylin Cough Syrup.”

The second suspect, said the police, was arrested aboard a Nissan AD Van vehicle.

“Ivan Gombere (36) was arrested at the three kilometre peg along Macheke-Murewa Road for unlawful possession of dagga, Broncleer Cough Syrup, Astra Pain Cough Syrup and Benylin Cough Syrup,” said the police.

Government has declared zero tolerance on drugs and substance abuse by coordinating the multi-sectoral response to tackling the vice that is plaguing many communities.
