The Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs, Cde Mandi Chimene, has urged the people of Manicaland to embrace the current government economic turnaround strategies including the introduction of the bond notes if the economic struggle is to be a success.Speaking recently in an interview on the sidelines of the funeral parade of the late Lieutenant Colonel Morgan Tauya held at Headquaters 3 Infantry Brigade in Chikanga last Thursday, Minister Chimene said war veterans like Lt Col Tauya had played their part in the second and third Chimurenga which is the economic war.
“Although this comrade has gone before we have completed the fight for total economic emancipation and when we still needed him the most, we appreciate the fact that he had sacrificed a lot for this country already. The final race that we all need to complete is the one that will see us embracing home grown solutions to the current economic challenges as a nation. One of these ways is the availing of bond notes to ease the current cash shortages,” said minister Chimene.
She further pointed out that the country should be wary of those in leadership positions who did not fight the war of liberation but today want to grab and forcibly take resources to line their own pockets.
Minister Chimene said: “Some people were old enough when Lt Col Tauya chose to go to war to liberate this country but they remained behind yet today they are in the fore front of refusing government grown economic solutions like the bond notes while at the same time they are busy grabbing what they were afraid to fight or work for”.
She also turned on the war veterans and said it was too early a time for them to go astray or lose focus on the reasons for the liberation struggle especially the economic war.
“It is too early a time for any comrade to go astray and I urge those who do not understand Government positions and policies to come so that we educate each other just like we used to do in the liberation struggle” she added.
Addressing mourners at the same occasion the Deputy Commander 3 Infantry Brigade Colonel Joel Muzvidziwa who was the chief mourner at the parade described the late Lt Col Tauya as a dedicated officer in the Zimbabwe National Army who had risen through the ranks because of his dedication to duty and steadfastness in serving the nation.
The late Lt Col Tauya whose Chimurenga name was “Agrippa Kambeu” passed away at Parirenyatwa General Hospital November 2, after a short illness.
At a very youthful age Lt Col Tauya left school in 1977and joined the liberation struggle in Mozambique via Nyambeya to Susundengu enroute to Doroi.
At independence he was attested into the Zimbabwe National Army as a Lieutenant and had risen through the ranks to the rank of Lt Col which he held at the time of his death. Lt Col Tauya held several appointments as well as attended several career courses both in Zimbabwe and abroad.
He is survived by his wife Mubuwu Muneinazvo and was buried in Zimunya
