EMMANUEL Jalai says he is happy with the way things have turned out so far as he settles to life in the South African Premiership.
The Warriors star broke into the Durban City starting line-up within weeks of arriving in January.
The right back has settled faster than expected, putting to rest early doubts about whether he could cope with the pace and demands of the league.
“I am getting used to the new environment well, I can’t complain,” said Jalai.
The 27-year-old admits the adjustment has not been easy, with matches often decided by fine details rather than moments of flair.
“To be honest, it’s not easy but I am working hard to help the team. At the end, it’s about the whole team more than individualism,” he said.
Questions were raised about his physical profile when he made the move, but Jalai has responded with composed displays, relying on positioning and reading of the game rather than size.
He believes the difference between the Zimbabwean and South African leagues lies in execution.
“From my own opinion, it’s about the small basic football details. Those are the things that matter most, and we just have to keep working and believing,” he said.
Durban City officials have already taken note of his impact, praising his organisation at the back and his calmness in possession.
With his Warriors experience, Jalai is now positioning himself as a key part of the side as the season gathers pace.
